WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT MALDIVES?

The Maldives experiences a tropical climate, with distinct wet and dry seasons. Before planning your trip, be mindful of the weather conditions to make the most of your stay. The dry season, from November to April, is ideal for sun-seekers, while the wet season, from May to October, brings occasional rain showers. VISA REQUIREMENTS

First thing you need to know before visiting Maldives: ensure you have the necessary paperwork for a seamless entry. One of the perks of visiting the Maldives is that it offers visa-free entry to travelers from numerous countries. Citizens of many nations, including the United States, European Union member states, and many Asian countries, can enter the Maldives for up to 30 days without a visa. This simplifies the travel process, making it easier for visitors to enjoy the beauty of the Maldives without the hassle of a pre-approved visa.

For those not covered by visa-free entry, the Maldives offers upon landing at Velana International Airport in Male a 30-day visa with the possibility of extension.

RESPECT LOCAL CULTURE

While the Maldives is a tourist-friendly destination, it’s crucial to respect the local culture and traditions. The Maldivian culture is deeply rooted in Islam, and visitors should be mindful of dress codes, especially when exploring local islands. Modest clothing is recommended, and it’s essential to be aware of local customs, such as not taking photographs in certain areas or during prayer times.

COUSINE

Maldivian cuisine is a delightful fusion of flavors influenced by Indian, Sri Lankan, and Arabian culinary traditions. Even if some resorts offer international cuisine, always make sure to check the cousine. Our resort was international with a touch of Indian cousine. Everything was pretty spiced but delicious. I had plenty of Roshi ( flatbread that is a common accompaniment to many Maldivian dishes, including mas huni and various curries. It’s similar to Indian roti or Sri Lankan roti). And more, Mas Huni, a popular Maldivian breakfast dish made with tuna, coconut, onion, chili.
