What is it that makes you remember a person or a place? Definitely a perfume. The unforgettable ones are for sure french perfumes.
What I ask my self the most is: Why French perfumes are so iconic? Why they stand out among many many others?
Below you’ll find the answer together with the list of the most iconic French perfumes in the market that are still best sellers even after decades from their realize!

“perfume is the art that makes the memory speak”

When I think about my boyfriend, I can connect him only to a scent :Intenso by Dolce & Gabbana. Instead, when it comes to my dad, it is Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Armani. They can wear any other scent but, they are only remembered by these two.
When it comes to choosing a scent for my self, I go straight to floral French perfumes. Definitely!

If I don’t spritz a scent on my wrists and behind my ears before leaving, I feel like I’m missing something. I also like to carry with me a small size bottle of my favorite perfume to freshen up my self during the day.

WHAT MAKES FRENCH PERFUMES SO ICONIC?

Grasse is the place where most of the French perfumes are made. France in general and Grasse in particular, thanks to their mild climate have been able to grow fields of scented flowers, among them, the most used are lavender, rose and jasmine. Other than that, this country is made up of many perfume artisans, professionals noses of the French Riviera. So, as Italians are known for their cousine, French are specifically known for their perfumes.

WHAT ARE THE MOST ICONIC FRENCH PERFUMES?

The list would be infinite, but I decided to recollect the most iconic French perfumes, the one who any of us have owned at least one bottle.

CHANEL N 5

If I think about perfume, my first thought goes to Chanel N.5. This is the Senior of perfumes, the one that cannot be forgotten. Of course it goes at the first position of this list. I also adore (maybe even more), one of its newest version, Chanel N.5 L’Eau. Iconic as its mother but a hint more fresh and modern.

CHLOE

I always have to have a bottle of this amazing perfume on my shelf. I adore floral scents and this is it. Rose is in pole position, it is fresh and feminine. This is the perfect scent for day time because it is not to strong and it makes me thing of fresh laundry!

GUERLAIN – SHALIMAR

This is more on the oriental side of scents. I would use it during the colder months. Jaques Guerlain took the inspiration for this perfume from the story of Emperor Shah Jahan who fell in love with Princess Mumtaz Mahal and created for her Shalimar Gardens (other than dedicating to her the Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world.

Such a romantic story!!

DIPTYQUE EAU DE SENS

This is my favorite fragrance ever. If you have been following me you’ll know how much I’m in love and obsessed with this perfume. I think this is the perfect scent for my skin Ph. It lasts days on my skin and everyone always ask what fragrance I wear when I have it on!

As its name says, as soon as you smell it, it wakes all your senses up. You should really try it!

LTB recommended!

CHANEL COCO MADEMOISELLE

Another classic of the Chanel family. It is an oriental fragrance for strong women (as Chanel describes). A must have for every woman.
