In this post you will discover how to prepare the easiest and fastest Lentil Burgers.

Vegan burgers are getting more and more popular in both for vegans yet omnivores who want to change it up a bit. I personally am neither vegan nor vegetarian but I like to change and experiment.
I don’t like to eat the same things all the time as I don’t want to get addicted to the same foods.

On the web I have found many different recipes on how to prepare these delicious burgers but in my opinion the version that I propose today is the easiest and fastest. Some people incorporate other types of vegetables in the mixture such as zucchini, carrots or potatoes (which fit perfectly) to make them a little softer. I personally do not like to mix too many things for digestibility issues, so I decided to simply use lentils and a little bit of breadcrumbs to mix everything together.

INGREDIENTS

250 Grams lentils
Onion to soute
3 spoons bread crumbs

LENTIL BURGER RECIPE

-Take half an onion, finely chopped, and sauté it in a pan. Then take the lentils previously soaked for at least a couple of hours (I prefer to leave them overnight).

Letting the lentils soak in water is a key step as this will make your lentils more digestible.

-Then sauté lightly in the onion for a couple of minutes, add a little salt, pepper, paprika if you like and spices and then add water to cover the lentils and cook over medium/low heat for about 20 minutes (or adjust according to the cooking time written on the box).

-After 20 minutes the water you added should have completely evaporated. Let cool, then blend the whole thing. I like to leave a few pieces of lentil whole, but you can also blend the whole thing until it becomes a cream. Then add three or four tablespoons of breadcrumbs depending on how you prefer the consistency mix well and the mixture is ready.

-Take some of the mixture and manipulate it between your hands until you form little balls and then crush them until you have Burger shapes.

With this recipe you should get about six burgers.

You can bake them in the oven or in a pan with a little oil and cook two minutes on each side. I recommend then to let it cool a bit so the texture will become a bit harder.

I don’t think there’s an easier recipe for making these lentil burgers. Of course there are so many other ways but this is the one I use the most when I’m in a hurry.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments your method!!!
