Korean skin care is celebrated all over the world. Their porcelain skins are idolized by everyone. Today we want to talk to you about how to perform perfect Korean skin care and their tips and tricks.

Personally, I’m a fan of all things Korean (skin care, make up, k dramas) eve before BTS, Black Pink and Squeed Game were successful in the western world.

What absolutely fascinated me about the Korean world, besides the K-dramas, was absolutely their beauty world. I started following influencers and beauty gurus and from that point, my passion grew like crazy.

The only thing I don’t particularly love is their way of “standardizing” beauty. In order to be beautiful and fashion, you have to follow certain standards that certainly doesn’t enhance the uniqueness of people. They’re all a bit cookie-cutter.

I follow an Italian You Tuber who emigrated to South Korea, specifically to Seoul, and in one of his videos he talks about their standards of beauty. (Here is the link to the video).

KOREAN SKINCARE PRINCIPLES

Seeing their perfect skins, it’s pretty normal that as a result we all went crazy for their skin care routine. What we like the most is especially their mix of advanced technologies and ancient teqniques.

But before you start following their 10-step routine, you must first learn the basics.

In addition to all the steps we’ll talk about next, there are some basic things you need to perform.

1) Tap, don’t rub.

Korean women are always very gentle when it comes to touching the face. Even when applying their moisturizer, they never rub but tap.

2)Double cleanse is a must.

One cleanse is never enough. The always start with an oil based cleanser then a foaming one. ALWAYS. Even when they have only 30 seconds to go.
There’s only one exception: mornings.

Most of theme prefer to wash their face in the morning by using only water. That’s because they are more gentle and the don’t strip the natural oils.

3)Mind the order.

The products order application is the basis of the Korean beauty routine. You always necessarily start from the lightest to the heaviest textured product. For example, you start with toner, then essence, eye cream serum, face cream and face oils.
This is the secret to making sure your skin best absorbs all the ingredients in your beauty products.

4)Massage,massage,massage.

Massage is one of the most important parts of skin care certification in Korea. It brings so many benefits to the skin: it improves its appearance by applying physical stimulation to the muscles, promoting blood and lymph circulation and vessels. It is also incredibly anti-aging, as it can promote tissue tension and elasticity and prevent wrinkles.

You can help your manual massage by using tools such as the Gua Sha or Jade Roller.

KOREAN SKINCARE STEPS

As we previously mentioned, Korean skincare consists of 8 to 10 steps. The effort that Korean women put in it has definitely shown its fruits as they all have wonderfully perfect skins.

Last but not least, they difference AM to PM skincare. Their beauty product picks are very strict to their skin needs.

Let’s take a look at all the steps in detail.

Step 1. Cleansing

In the morning, you need to wash your face simply with water. This, to maintain the natural moisture of the skin. For the evening, the thing changes as you need to first wash your face with an oily cleanser to remove the makeup. Then a foaming cleanser (milder than the others) to cleanse your face well.

Step 2. Toner

The second step is the toner. This is an essential step because this product helps to balance the PH of the skin and promotes a greater absorption of the ingredients contained in the following products.

Step 3. Essence

We westerners are not very accustomed to the use of this product. Essence, on the other hand, is a sacred product for Koreans. It’s somewhere between a toner and a serum. Needless to say, it brings more hydration to the skin.

Step 4. Ampoule

The ampoules are similar to a serum but still contain specific active ingredients depending on your need.
They are used for a specific period of time. A kind of treatment.

Step 5. Serum

The serum is a concentrated product of active ingredients. Clearly, the serum should be chosen according to your skin type and individual needs. This is my absolute favorite.

Step 6. Eye Cream

Many of us tend to underestimate eye cream. I’m sorry to contradict you, but it’s essential. This area of our face is the most delicate and the one that tends to show signs of aging. For this reason, applying a cream around the eyes morning and evening is essential, both to counteract the effects of time and to look fresher and more rested in the morning.

Step 7. Moisturizer

We all know this step. The moisturizer is definitely the one product that almost all of us never skip.

Step. 8 Sheet Mask

An optional step, or at least not to be done every day, is to apply a sheet mask. You can find all kinds of them at Sephora. I love the ones made with hyaluronic acid, which is an ingredient I love to have inside my beauty products.

I usually apply them in the evening or on those days where I want to have an at Home Spa Date with myself.

Step 9. Sunscreen

As for aging skin, if you don’t use sunscreen, I can already tell you that all those expensive products you apply every day, even twice a day are useless. Sunscreen is the first and only product that can help fight aging. don’t be afraid that it will be too heavy on your skin or that it will give you pimples. There is one for every type of “issue”. Sunscreen is your true and only ally!

WHERE TO BUY KOREAN SKINCARE PRODUCTS

Since I’m a fan of online shopping, my fave e-commerce to buy my favorite Korean skincare products is YesStyle. It always offers amazing deals and has the greatest products on market.
The only downside is that delivery is a bit slow. It usually takes around three weeks but it is worth the waiting. Promise.

Following skin care routine , I finally got rid of my oily skin, that was my main skin problem.

Ps. if your skin is super dry, try to add a face oil. You just tap it on top of your moisturizing cream to lock in all the moisture. My favorite one is the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse. You can read my detailed review here.

10 steps seems like a lot ( and maybe it is for our always hectic lives ). But Koreans assure that each step is absolutely essential to keep your skin young and healthy.

What do you think about it?
