What To Do In Milan In 48 Hours

This is one of my favorite place on the planet. The city of fashion, love and food. Here you’ll find: What To Do In Milan in 48 Hours.

Everyone at least once in their life must visit the wonderful city of Milan. Known throughout the world as a city of fashion, technology and innovation, and one of the most visited in Italy.
Although it is not a very big city, it contains in its heart so many attractions and activities to do. Each time I discover new things and I am more and more fascinated by what it can offer both as a tourist and as an inhabitant. Recently

I was in Milan for forty-eight hours and I will tell you about the places to visit and where to eat.

WHAT TO DO IN MILAN

There is something that attracts me to this city, something that made me fall in love with this wonderful place. I can’t tell you what, maybe it’s a combination of things and maybe it’s because I’ve shared this city always with a special person making it our place, our refuge.

That’s why I like to go back at least once a year.
I consider myself almost an expert of this city and so, I propose you my guide to Milan. In fact, a while back, I wrote a post about the 5 things to do in Milan.

PLACES TO VISIT

what to do in milan

Milan Dome

The attractions and historical monuments that characterize Milan are few but incredibly beautiful that even though I have seen them millions of times, I am always grateful to being able to see them again.

The wonderful thing is that the center of Milan is not excessively big so you can turn it all in one day and especially on foot. Unlike Rome who instead is so huge that a week is not enough to see it all especially you need transportation.

MILAN DOME

Clearly visiting the Duomo of Milan is definitely the thing to do in the very first hours in this city. A cathedral known throughout the world that exudes a beauty is a wonderful art.

Right in the city center is always very crowded with people fascinated by it. You can also buy a ticket to visit the Dome and the most beautiful thing to do is to go at the edge of it admiring Milan from above.

GALLERIA VITTORIO EMANUELE

Not far from the Duomo of Milan, in fact literally a stone’s throw away, we find the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. A wonderful gallery full of fantastic frescoes. If you search for Milan on Instagram you will find lots of photos of people inside this wonderful gallery. In addition, it is a wonderful spot for luxury shopping. In fact, this gallery concentrates the major luxury brands. Although I personally love to shop in Via Montenapoleone.

VIA MONTENAPOLEONE

Via Montenapoleone is a very important street in Milan for the shopping that you find. As part of Milan’s fashion quadrilateral. My favorite store as far as beauty is concerned are Louis Vuitton and Chanel.

Once a year, for my birthday, I adore to treat me with a self made gift from a shop situated in Via Monte Napoleone. From me by me!
Last year, I treated myself with this LV bag. I’m in love with this brad. It has something that keeps me away from any other brand.

I NAVIGLI

After dinner, the thing I loved the most doing is having a walk through the Navigli. They were a system of navigable and interconnected canals around Milan. Today, the canals are mostly used for irrigation. The only two who operate a tourist navigation system connected to the Darsena are the Naviglio Grande and the Naviglio Pavese, also becoming a nightlife pole. This area is full of beautiful pubs. You can go in one of them and sip a drink or whatever you like, admiring the beautiful view.

It is also amazing to walk through Navigli in the morning as well.

PLACES TO EAT

This is definitely my favorite part of my Milan guidebook. Looking for places to eat or have appetizers is my favorite activity. In fact, on my Instagram, I have a folder dedicated solely to places to try. For this reason, every time I go back to Milan I try to cross off the list all the places to try. I could almost say that my weekends in Milan are purely culinary.

YOKOHAMA SUSHI RESTAURANT

This is by far my favorite place to eat sushi in Milan. The owners are fantastic and work hard to make their place cozy and delicious. Generally, every year for our anniversary, my boyfriend and I are used to book there and spend an evening of taste. My favorite dishes are their crudité of salmon and tuna. A dispassionate advice: book in advance because they are almost always fully booked.

On their website you will find the number where to call for reservations.

IL MERCATO DEL DUOMO

This is a great place, literally steps away from the Duomo. It is the perfect place to taste all the traditional Italian and Milanese dishes. I could spend the whole day inside this structure, starting from breakfast, passing through lunch with a nice cotoletta alla milanese and then enjoy a fantastic aperitif in the Aperol terrace and dine in one of these magnificent places that the place offers.

I absolutely recommend, at least once in your life, to have an aperitif at the Aperol terrace. Especially taking a table on the terrace overlooking the Duomo. I suggest you to book your table in time because places are limited. Here you can choose from an infinity of spritzes for all your tastes.

PASTICCERIA IGINIO MASSARI

If you are a lover of pastry shops or simply want to have a breakfast of delicious pastries, then I recommend going to Iginio Massari’s pastry shop. Iginio is one of the greatest Italian pastry chefs.
Click here for more information about the location.

CINQUANTADUE MILANO

To continue the sushi series, I absolutely recommend “Cinquantadue Restaurant. It is also located in the heart of Milan and I must tell you that for me it was a wonderful discovery. Genuine and fresh products. Super qualified and friendly staff.

Absolutely to try!

WHERE TO STAY IN MILAN

You know how methodical I am. If I like something I have no desire to change it. Although I have tried various hotels and facilities in Milan, the only one I want to share with you is “Castello Guest House“. A wonderful structure exactly in front of the Castello Sforzesco.

The rooms are wonderful and cared for in every detail, the staff makes you feel at home and the location of the structure will make you live Milan at 360 degrees.
Book early because the demand is high.

HOW TO GET AROUND MILAN

Public transportation is very efficient in the center of Milan. Although very often you can simply move on foot, the Milan Metro, at a cost of 1.50 Euro will take you anywhere. I personally loved paying through Apple Pay for my ticket as soon as I got to the station stove. Otherwise, my favorite way is “Eni Enjoy” car sharing or the new scooter sharing.
