Sardinia

If you’re planning to visiting Sardinia, in this post you’ll find the main activities you cannot miss in this amazing Italian’s island.

Sardinia is the most visited place in Italy during the summer months. The most popular place, along with the Amalfi Coast, where people, both foreigners and Italians, decide to spend their summer vacations. The reason is also quite simple: its crystal clear waters and wild beaches offer everything you could want from summer holidays. A perfect tan and delicious food will make your vacations wonderful. I have been going to Sardinia for three years in a row because this land, although difficult to reach, manages to give me immense emotions.

There are various ways to experience Sardinia: by land by deciding to stay in a resort or in an apartment or by sea, deciding to rent a catamaran or a yacht.

In this post I want to list, as an expert of this land, all the major activities to do if you decide to visit Sardinia.

Ps. don’t forget to put sunscreen on because sun is the main guest!!

PPs. Don’t forget to read about my latest trip to Positano here!

THINGS TO DO IN SARDINIA

The guide in this post will include:

  • Beach Hunting
  •  Sardinian Food
  •  Night Life
  • Visit Nearby Islands

BEACH HUNTING

Definitely the very first thing to do in this paradise on earth is to visit as many beaches as possible. On Google Maps on my phone I have saved a lot of beaches. Some I already visited these three times. Others that I would like to visit as soon as I have the opportunity.

My favorite beaches at the moment are: Capo Comino, Rena Majore, Li giunchi, Prince’s beach.

Most popular:

NB. you can’t immagine how big Sardinia is. These beaches I mentioned are mostly in the north of Sardinia (mainly Costa Smeralda).

EAT SARDINIAN FOOD

Eating is my favorite activity fortunately along with working out. Whenever I visit a country different from mine I love to go for dishes or foods typical of the area. I like to live and eat like locals. If you are not a vegetarian or vegan, you absolutely must book a table in a Sardinian farmhouse and try the famous Sardinian Porceddu or, in English, suckling pig.

In Sardinian farmhouses you pay a fixed fee (usually between 30 and 45 €), for the whole Sardinian specialties menu.

Appetizer of cold cuts and cheeses (with goat’s or sheep’s milk), two typical first courses: malloreddus and ravioli stuffed with goat’s ricotta and lemon). Then, the inevitable Sardinian suckling pig. sweets typical of the area and their typical bitters: the myrtle and filueferru.
The best agriturismo I have ever tried is da Paolino.

A typical Sardinian sweet to be absolutely try is Seadas. (Usually you have ask for them in advance).

If you’re afraid you’re going to eat to much, don’t worry , I have a guide on How To Recover After Overeating!

NIGHT LIFE IN SARDINIA

If you want to live the nightlife I absolutely recommend you to go to Costa Smeralda. In my opinion the nicest place to spend the night is absolutely Poltu Quatu. It’s considered like a small Venice, as you can see from the picture. There are many places for dinner and after dinner. A youthful and stylish environment. A little piece of heaven on earth. My favorite dinner spot is absolutely Aruana Churrascheria. A wonderful place, design included, to eat some really good Brazilian meat. If you go there you absolutely must get the Picana. I recommend getting it on the outdoor terrace because the scenery is really wonderful.

Another option is to go to Porto Rotondo. This is also a youthful place that offers an infinite number of places to go. Last but not least, the very famous Porto Cervo. If you want to go for a walk and visit this place I recommend it for sure. As for restaurants and clubs in general I always prefer Poltu Quatu and Porto Rotondo. But that’s personal!

If you don’t want something fancy but just a pizza this is the place: Lievito. They just opened in Porto Rotondo and you can have amazing pizzas.

VISIT NEARBY ISLANDS

If you are planning to visit Sardinia you should definitely keep a few days free to visit its islands as well. The first two, which I recommend you absolutely to not miss are the island of La Maddalena and the island of Asinara. Of course there are many other more but these are a must. You can book tickets for fast ferries and in the blink of an eye you will be catapulted into these wonderful dream islands.
