Pop corn beach is a characteristic beach in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands. Its uniqueness, as the name suggests, is the beach consists of pebbles that closely resemble popcorn.
It is such a picturesque place that it is worth visiting if you are in the area.

HISTORY
Popcorn Beach, or originally known as Playa del Bajo de la Burra, is one of the most unique beaches in Fuerteventura. It is actually a carpet of popcorn!
They are actually fossils of white seaweed that look exactly like freshly made popcorn!
If you find yourself staying in Corralejo, given its proximity, I highly recommend a visit. We took advantage of a dull day to go there since, in my opinion, it is not perfect for bathing. Rather for a visit, a nice walk and plenty of photos to take.

HOW TO GET THERE
Popcorn Beach is located on the northern coast of Fuerteventura, near the town of Corralejo, in the municipality of La Oliva. From Corralejo it is possible to walk to the beach by following a path for about 1 hour. Alternatively, one can drive there.
The distance from the port of Morro Jable to Popcorn Beach is about 120 km, while from Puerto del Rosario (which is 41 km from the beach) it takes 40 min. by car.

CLOTHING
As I said before, the place is not perfect, in my opinion, for bathing. This does not mean that wearing a bathing suit anyway would be very smart since if the wind allows it and you feel like it a nice swim is always welcome.
Otherwise comfortable clothes are always recommended in any corner of Fuerteventura.
Sneakers rather than flip-flops are necessary given the many pebbles, pardon popcorn, that characterize the beach.
WHAT TO DO AFTERWARDS
We also organized the day according to culinary stages. We wanted to try at all costs the restaurant “La Vaca Azul” which is located in El Cotillo, a wonderful town near Corralejo. It is run by a family and their team who managed to create a fantastic atmosphere and make the place even more special because of their presence.
Or, you can visit the aloe factory “Finca Canarias” where you can learn all about the history and process of aloe gel extraction and most importantly buy their products directly on site. Or on their website. 100% Aloe Vera.
